Monthly Highlights

Several students sit in a circle of desks in a classroom, with one student holding a tablet, while two others appear to be speaking at the front near large windows.

Photo #1: Our Del Dios TV class launched their weekly news segments in September. Through collaborative team projects, students explore every stage of video production from behind-the-camera planning to on-camera presentation in order to create engaging and informative content. Along the way, they sharpen media literacy while building essential skills in creativity, organization, and public speaking.

A group of adults and children gather around information tables under shade sails at an outdoor community event during evening hours.

Photo #2: As a Community School, one of our favorite things is bringing families and community partners together to support our students. A big thank you to the partners who joined us for Back-to-School Night including Del Lago Academy, Interfaith, PTA, Universidad Popular, and Vista Hill for sharing their helpful resources with our families.

Costume Guidelines – Del Dios Academy October 2026

Del Dios Academy — October 2026

On Friday, October 30, Del Dios students are free to wear costumes to school. Dressing up is completely optional, and students may wear regular school clothes as well. During this school day celebration students are permitted to wear age-appropriate costumes representing fictional characters, heroes, or imaginative concepts. Please keep these guidelines in mind:

  • All costumes must uphold the Dragon Creed and be safe, respectful, and responsible.
  • Costumes should be appropriate to a Del Dios school day. Dress code standards apply.
  • No weapons of any kind, real or imagined, plastic or otherwise, may be included as part of a costume.
  • No full-face masks or makeup may be worn during the school day.
  • Partial makeup may be used to represent fictional conditions (clown-face, witch-green skin, etc) but should not represent different human flesh tones.
  • Wigs may be used to represent fictional or historical characters (Ariel mermaid hair, George Washington wig, etc) but may not be used to represent hairstyles associated with other ethnicities.
  • Costumes representing spiritual leaders and specific religious figures are inappropriate for Halloween.

Please consult with your child as you plan their costume together. If you have any questions or concerns about any costume that your child may be considering wearing on this day, please feel free to reach out to a School Administrator or any teacher.

From Your School Support Team

Signs of Suicide (SOS)

In September, our School Support Team had the privilege of presenting to all our students. The first presentation introduced students to their support staff, and the second covered Signs of Suicide (SOS). Ask your student what ACT stands for! ACT is the primary tool taught to help students respond if they or a friend are experiencing negative thoughts or thoughts of self-harm: Acknowledge, show that you Care, and Tell a trusted adult.

Red Ribbon Week (October 23rd-31st)

Red Ribbon Week is an annual tradition dedicated to keeping our kids healthy, safe, and drug free. Every year from October 23rd-31st, schools and communities across the country come together to promote healthy choices and raise awareness about the dangers of drug, alcohol, and tobacco use.

Our School Support Team is excited to host a week filled with engaging, fun-filled activities for our students that celebrate making positive choices. Keep an eye out for additional details. We look forward to celebrating together!
