Lincoln Lion Weekly Update #1

It was great to see all of you at the Kagan Cooperative Workshop. I enjoyed seeing all of your enthusiasm and dedication to learning. The expecatation with our Kagan training is that you implement one structure during the first couple of weeks of school. My goal is to send out a staff bulletin using this new format in Campfire each Friday afternoon/evening and I ask that you always read through it sometime before school begins on Monday. I welcome your feedback or suggestions on how I can make our weekly updates informative and helpful.

Four entrances/exits:
Gates Near TK Playground: SCSB
Cafeteria Gate: TK and Grade 1
Lincoln Avenue side Gate: Kindergarten
Main Office Gate: Grades 2-5

7:40 am: Let’s create a welcoming first day of school by being present at the gates at 7:40 to minimize confusion for students about where to go. You can sign up to give out stickers to students. Please see Mary Alice. Thank you for all that you do to help make it a great first day for everyone!

Please take attendance at 8:15 during the first week of school (T-F) as we work through all new enrollments, etc.

Typical day:

AM Time: Teachers walk straight to their “lines” on the blacktop at 7:55. Teachers pick up students from the lines at recess and lunch as well. Students are in classrooms by 8:00.

PM Time: 2nd-5th-grade teachers escort their walk classes out through the gate to the front of the grassy area before leaving the students. Staff assigned to supervision remain out there.

Positive hand-off grades: Grades TK and Grade 1 by the cafeteria exit near the lunch tables on the grass area.

Kindergarten: By the side gate facing Lincoln Avenue. Diana will share a spreadsheet with caretaker names for each student in Grades TK/K/Grade 1 with each teacher in these grades. Teachers will create colored name cards to make identifying families more manageable for staff.

**Please take note of the following important security procedures when working on campus outside of regular Office Hours (M-F, 7:30-4:00 pm.) or over the weekend:

Send an email to include Jose, Rita, and [email protected] with the following details:

• Your name and date & time of your visit to campus
• The room(s) you will be accessing, number of persons who may accompany you, including pertinent details (i.e., they will drive their own vehicle to meet you, they will join you at a later time, etc)
• No dogs are allowed on campus at any time
• If you are the last person on campus, please ensure that you close and lock the gate to the parking lots.

**Please report any problems with security alarms immediately to Rita, or outside of Office Hours, contact the Security Team at 760-233-4341. The alarms remain set (turned on) during the weekend.
