Family Weekly Update #1

We had a wonderful first week of school! We want to thank all families who came on Thursday for our Back to School Night. It’s a great opportunity for families to connect with their child’s teacher and learn about the new year. We look forward to having families on campus more throughout the year!

As a reminder, Monday, August 24th begins our normal drop off procedures. This means students are to be dropped off at the gates. Our gates will open at 7:40 and close at 8:00 am. This transition can be challenging for some of our TK and Kinder friends. We’ve found that a quick, optimistic goodbye, and a handoff to our Pioneer staff at the gate works for most students. In the event that your child is struggling to walk to the line themselves, please be prepared to sign in at the front office with a picture ID to escort your child to their teacher’s line.

Next week the forecast indicates warm weather. Please send your child with a refillable water bottle. Our teachers and staff will ensure we consistently remind our students to drink water, seek shade, and not overexert themselves.

We are always planning for ways for students to remain cool during high heat weather. If needed, we will implement inclement weather schedules to ensure students are kept in cool spaces during the school day.

Our attendance this week was FANTASTIC! Thank you for making school a priority! Our goal this year is 96% average daily attendance each and every day because Every Day Counts!

We’re excited to host Pioneer’s first Family Literacy Night on Thursday, September 10 from 5:00-6:30 pm! Please plan to attend this incredible event. There will be a professional theatrical performance, free giveaways, free food, and the chance to connect with Escondido community partners. Be on the lookout for the flier to come!
