Dear Reidy Creek Families,

The start of the new school year is only a few days away! Our amazing staff has been back since Thursday, working tirelessly to create welcoming classrooms and activities for the first week of school. The first few days of school are always an exciting adventure filled with new friendships and endless possibilities. I know the return to routine can bring a big mix of feelings. While some students feel pure excitement, others may be feeling a bit of first-day jitters. Rest assured, our team is fully dedicated to ensuring your child feels cared for, confident, and supported from day one. We can’t wait to partner with you for a wonderful year of growth and success! This newsletter contains important information about school policies and procedures, so please read it carefully.

Lastly, mark your calendars for Back to School Night on August 20th for TK and 1st-5th grade students. The schedule of classroom presentations is below:

PS/TK/1st - 5:00-5:35
4th/5th - 5:40-6:15
2nd/3rd - 6:20-6:55

Enjoy your last weekend of summer, and we'll see you on Tuesday morning! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Dr. Megan Loh
Principal

Class Lists

A colorful banner with decorative triangular flags displays the text Class List in black lettering.

Class lists are available on the Parent Portal in PowerSchool (opens in a new tab) beginning at 5:00pm this evening. If you have the ThrillShare app, you should also be able to view the class. You will be receiving a welcome email from your teacher.

Please remember that our staff spent a great deal of time creating balanced classes for this year. It is a complex process that involves reviewing factors such as academics, social needs, behavioral concerns, learning styles, and friendship groups.

While we are always happy to discuss questions or concerns that parents may have, please know that we do not grant requests for specific teachers and will not change class assignments during the first two weeks of school, except in dire extenuating circumstances.

TK Meet and Greet

For all our TK families, we look forward to seeing you at our "Meet and Greet" event on Monday, August 17th at 1:00 pm.

Families will first head to the classrooms to meet their child's teacher and see the room. Then, parents will be invited to the MPR for a brief overview with Dr. Loh while the TK teachers do an activity with the students. Last, all families will be invited to the courtyard to meet other families. Popsicles will be given to all TK students.

A few other reminders:

  • Parking will be available on our blacktop.
  • Please enter the gate by the TK playground.
  • Staff will be available to help guide families to the correct classrooms.
  • Our PTA will provide important information about school events.

K Meet and Greet/Back to School Night

Our Kindergarten Meet and Greet and Back to School Night is on Monday, August 17th at 3pm. Families will be invited to meet their child's teacher and see the classroom. Then, childcare will be provided so families can stay in their classroom and hear a presentation from their child's teacher.

First Day of School Reminders

We're looking forward to seeing all of our students on August 18th. School will begin at 8:10 that morning, with the blacktop open for parking at 7:40. If you are parking on the blacktop, please walk to the front of the school to enter campus through the gates. Here is some important information regarding drop-off and pick-up for the first few days. As many of you know, we have very limited parking, and it is important that all families read through our policies clearly to help drop-off and pick-up run smoothly!

Drop-Off:
-Gates will open at 7:50 for families to start coming on campus.
-TK-2nd grade: Classrooms will open at 8 am. Parents are welcome to walk their children to their classroom and say goodbye.
-3rd-5th grade: Families can walk their children to the blacktop and say goodbye there.

Pick-Up:
-Students will receive colored limo signs on the first day of school. Moving forward, please ensure these signs are clearly visible in the front window.
-All cars picking up third, fourth, fifth, and separate class students must go through our bus loop to pick up students.
-All cars picking up TK-second grade students can turn left and pick up students in front of the Kindergarten playground.
-Please DO NOT get out of your vehicle in the pick-up line. If you need assistance getting your child buckled in, please pull all the way forward to the end of the lane by our TK/K Playground. Our staff outside can also help.
-Please pull all the way down to the end of the loop before picking up your child. We will have staff outside to help direct cars.
-After the first day of school, if you would like your older sibling to pick up a younger sibling, they can pick them up outside the Kindergarten gate and bring them back to the bus loop for pickup. Please let your younger child's teacher know this information.
-After the traffic has cleared in the pick-up line, any remaining students will be walked to the office at 3:00 pm, where they will wait to be picked up.
-Parents will need to provide an ID to pick up late students. If you send someone else to pick up your student, we will need their ID and verbal permission for pick up.

Breakfast and Lunch:
-Breakfast and lunch are provided to all students free of charge.
-Breakfast is served before school from 7:30-8:00.
-Every day, students have the option of bringing their lunch or getting hot lunch through the cafeteria. The menu for each month will always be posted at the bottom of the Coyote Connection.

We appreciate your help and cooperation and look forward to a smooth first day!

School Policies

Cell Phones and Smart Watches

Last year, the EUSD Board of Education approved a new regulation that mandates a "powered off and out of sight" environment to minimize distractions and support student well-being. The policy prohibits the use of smartphones and other mobile communication devices, such as smart watches, at any time while students are on school grounds. During the school day, those devices are to be turned off and kept in a student’s backpack. If students do have a phone/watch in class, they will be asked to place it in a basket on the teacher's desk until the end of the day. Also, please note that the school is not responsible for the loss, theft, or damage to personal electronic devices, including cell phones and other valuable items brought to school.

iPads
As a reminder, all school-issued iPads will remain at school. They will only be sent home for special assignments or projects.

Birthdays
While we appreciate the joy and excitement that accompany our students’ birthdays, we do not allow parents to bring food items to their child’s classroom as stated in our EUSD Wellness Policy. We also do not allow balloons on campus.

We encourage parents to consider bringing non-food items, such as pencils, stickers, and stamps, for classmates.

We also invite parents to pay $5 to have their child’s name posted on our marquee as part of our PTA’s “Birthday Marquee” program. There is a birthday form included in the Welcome Back Packet, or you can stop by the front office.
