Vista Hill PROMOTE! and the Escondido Union School District (EUSD) have partnered to bring an amazing opportunity to enhance students' abilities to learn and thrive. Vista Hill PROMOTE! focuses on providing services in Transitional Kindergarten (TK) through 3rd grades by supporting students with enhancing their social-emotional skills. These services are funded by the County of San Diego and are free for students with MediCal or who are uninsured.

What is the Dinosaur School Small Group Series?

Utilizing the evidence-based Incredible Years® curriculum, weekly small-group sessions focus on teaching students about friendship, kindness, understanding, and respect, while promoting academic skills to further enhance positive self-esteem. These fun and engaging sessions are led by Vista Hill specially trained staff and feature:

• Wally, Molly and Dina — our child-size puppets who help creatively teach positive social skills
• Hands-on team activities, interactive role-plays and the ability to practice skills learned with same age peers

Program Eligibility

Services are focused on supporting individual student needs through targeted small groups.

Who is eligible?

• Services are available to students who have full-scope MediCal or are uninsured.

How it works:

• Vista Hill PROMOTE! staff work closely with EUSD's grade-level teams and school Social Workers to identify and refer students who would benefit from this additional small-group support service.
• Assessment services and behavioral support services are also available to students.

Through ongoing communication and collaboration, Vista Hill PROMOTE! staff are committed to ensuring that students receive the best support services possible.

Supporting the Whole Family

Certified Peer Support Specialists are available to provide direct assistance to families with children enrolled in the program that are needing to connect with community resources and ensure dedicated follow-up.

About the Program

Our six-week, easy-to-understand learning institute is designed to be simple and enjoyable to equip parents and caregivers with the tools to become effective advocates for children and agents of positive change in their communities.

By exploring your passions, strengths, and ideas, you'll develop leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.

The Parent Leadership Institute provides families with the opportunity to learn, grow, and strengthen their voice within schools.

This training will be conducted in Spanish.

• School finances
• Student academic achievement
• ELAC/DELAC, which helps support students who are multilingual
