Dear NB Ranch Families,

Happy September! We are off to a fantastic, smooth start to the school year. Seeing our Broncos engaged, learning, and filling our halls with positive energy brings so much joy to our campus every day.

We are already at the halfway point of our High 5 Challenge, and our daily attendance has been stellar, staying between 94% and 99%! Having your child at school every single day is so important to their academic and social growth, so thank you for helping us start the year off strong.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Grades 1–5 Back to School Night. Partnering together is truly the best way to support your child, and we were so happy to see so many parents and guardians in attendance. A great way to stay involved throughout the year is to make sure you read all school and teacher newsletters, emails, and text messages. I also warmly encourage you to join our incredible PTA! Joining the PTA is one of the easiest and most impactful ways to enrich our students' experiences, support fun school events, and stay connected with our Bronco community.

To launch our school year with positive momentum, I shared the story The Energy Bus for Kids with all of our students. The story follows a boy named George who meets a bus driver named Joy, who teaches him 5 rules for the ride of his life. We connected this story directly to our campus PBIS expectations, emphasizing one big message: You are the DRIVER of YOUR bus! That means each student chooses their own energy, words, and actions every day. Please check out the image below and take a moment to look at the story through the link at the end of this message. You can continue this conversation at home by asking your child:

-What does it mean to be the driver of your own bus?
-How do you choose positive energy when walking into class each morning?
-How do Joy’s bus rules connect to our Bronco expectations at school?

Dear Families,
We invite you to be part of our School Site Council (SSC) this year! The SSC plays an important role in supporting our school by:

• Helping review and approve school goals and plans
• Giving input on how resources are used to best support students
• Representing the voices of parents, staff, and the community

This is a wonderful opportunity to get involved, make a difference, and work together to ensure the success of all our students.
If you’re interested in serving on the School Site Council, please let us know by completing this SSC Self Nomination (opens in a new tab) Google Form by September 15th. You will also find more detailed information in the Google Form.

Our first SSC meeting of the year will be on Thursday, September 24th at 4:30 pm.

Absences are understandable when a student is sick. However, missing just two days a month equals 20 days of missed school, 30 hours of math, and 60 hours of reading/writing a school year. By graduation, that adds up to missing one full year of school. That's why we say "Every Day Counts!"
Our district has numerous resources to support families. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you are experiencing any challenges with your child's daily school attendance.

Fact: School Attendance in Kindergarten Matters. Missing 2 days per month in kindergarten is associated with lower achievement in reading and math in the fifth grade.

We started our third week of school, and our Broncos are off to a fantastic start with amazing attendance. Just take a look at our North Broadway data in the graph below!

Our students are halfway through the High 5 Attendance Challenge. Can your student earn theirs?
Be at school every day for the first 5 weeks (from Day 1 through Week 5) without missing a single day to earn an official High 5 Bronco Tag!
Showing up every day helps our students build great habits, stay connected with friends, and get the absolute best start to the school year.

Sign up for a FREE Dental Service If your child does not have a dentist, has not been seen by one in over 6 months, or if your child is currently enrolled in Medi-Cal or is uninsured, then your child is eligible for this program, and Neighborhood Healthcare will see them at no cost to you. This month, our school community is excited to participate in Start With Hello, a program created by Sandy Hook Promise that teaches students how to foster inclusion and combat social isolation. Small, everyday actions can make a big difference in ensuring every student feels seen and supported. Throughout the week, our students will focus on three simple, powerful steps through a variety of activities:

See Someone Alone: Learn to recognize when a classmate might be feeling left out or isolated.
Reach Out and Help: Discover easy, meaningful ways to include others and show empathy.
Start With Hello: Break the ice with a simple greeting to brighten someone’s day and build new connections.

Bringing the Conversation Home
You can help reinforce these habits at home with a few quick check-ins:

• Ask your child if they noticed anyone sitting alone today and how they reached out.
• Share a memory of a time someone made you feel welcome when you were new or felt left out.
• Practice simple icebreakers together to boost their confidence in saying hello to unfamiliar peers.

Together, we can create a warmer, more connected school environment where every student feels they belong. Thank you for partnering with us!

After School Explore Classes Start Soon!
Our Explore classes will begin the week of September 14th! Parents will receive an email confirmation if their child is enrolled in the program. Please keep an eye out for permission slips—these need to be signed and returned so your child can join in on the fun!

EUSD is proud to offer no-cost before and after-school programs for the 2026-27 school year. Programs are funded through After School Education and Safety (ASES) grants and Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) funds. These state-funded programs have eligibility criteria but are accessible to all, subject to capacity. Priority enrollment will go to foster/homeless youth, students eligible for free or reduced price meals, and English learners.
