Attendance is the first way you can help your child succeed in school. Daily and on-time school attendance has a powerful impact on a child's learning and success. If attendance has become a challenge for your family, you are not alone. We are partners in your child's success. Partnership is the key to finding solutions. Together, we can help students achieve!

• Attendance is a life skill that will help students in middle school, high school, and beyond.
• By 6th grade, absenteeism is a leading sign that a student may drop out of high school.
• Missing 10 percent, or about 18 days, of the school year can dramatically impact a child's success.

A Quick Guide for Volunteers — Escondido Union School District 2026–2027

Each level is defined by how much unsupervised contact you have with students. Every level includes the requirements of the levels before it.

There are 4 volunteer levels.

Level 0 — General Volunteer

One-time event at school, with no unsupervised access to students.

Types of Activities:

• Guest speaker or community resource presenter
• One-time volunteer for a school or classroom event
• Family Engagement Center volunteer activities
• Parent leadership (ELAC, PTA, SSC, etc.)

Requirements:

• Approved by a school staff member
• Complete the EUSD Volunteer Application & Code of Conduct Form (English / Spanish)
• Current government-issued photo ID (license, passport, military or government ID)

Level 1 — Supervised Volunteer

Little or no unsupervised contact — in public, adult-supervised settings or in the classroom under staff supervision.

Types of Activities:

• Day field trip chaperone (supervised, non-driving)
• Regularly scheduled classroom volunteer (reading, tutoring)
• Room parent
• Campus volunteer (office or playground helper)

Requirements:

• All Level 0 requirements
• Proof of a negative Tuberculosis (TB) test or risk assessment — upload with the Volunteer Application or submit to the Front Office
• Note: TB results must be dated within the last 60 days

Level 2 — Unsupervised Volunteer

Works directly with students and may have unsupervised time with them during a school or district activity.

Types of Activities:

• On-site tutoring or counseling outside of the classroom
• After-school or lunch club advisor
• Day field trip chaperone (unsupervised contact)
• Overnight field trip chaperone

Requirements:

• All Level 0 & 1 requirements
• LiveScan DOJ & FBI fingerprint clearance (EUSD LiveScan Form) — allow up to 6 weeks
• Mandated Reporter training, about 1 hour — link emailed by the District Office within 7 days

Level 3 — Volunteer Driver

Drives students in their own private vehicle.

Types of Activities:

• Field trip chaperone who drives students

Requirements:

• All Level 0, 1 & 2 requirements
• Submit the EUSD Field Trip by Private Vehicle Form
• Ask your school's Family Liaison to email you the electronic form

Every Visit, Every Level

Enter through the Front Office and sign in through Hall Pass (Megan's Law check). Volunteer approval may be revoked at any time at the discretion of the Principal or a designated administrator.

Nivel 0 — Voluntario general

Un solo evento en la escuela, sin acceso sin supervisión a los estudiantes.

Tipos de actividades:

• Ponente invitado o presentador de recursos comunitarios.
• Voluntariado puntual para un evento escolar o en el salón de clases.
• Actividades de voluntariado del centro de enlace familiar.
• Liderazgo de padres (ELAC, PTA, SSC, etc.).

Requisitos:

• Aprobado por un miembro del personal escolar.
• Complete la solicitud de voluntariado y el código de conducta de EUSD (inglés / español).
• Identificación oficial vigente con fotografía (licencia, pasaporte, identificación militar o del gobierno).

Nivel 1 — Voluntario supervisado

Poco o ningún contacto sin supervisión: en entornos públicos supervisados por adultos o en el salón de clases bajo supervisión del personal.

Tipos de actividades:

• Acompañante en una excursión de un día (supervisado, sin conducir).
• Voluntario con horario regular en el salón de clases (lectura, tutoría).
• Padre o madre del salón de clases.
• Voluntario en la escuela (ayudante de oficina o de patio).

Requisitos:

• Todos los requisitos del nivel 0.
• Prueba negativa de tuberculosis (TB) o evaluación de riesgos: súbala con la solicitud de voluntariado o entréguala en la oficina principal.
• Nota: Los resultados de TB no pueden tener más de 60 días de antigüedad.

Nivel 2 — Voluntario no supervisado

Trabaja directamente con los estudiantes y puede tener tiempo sin supervisión con ellos durante una actividad escolar o del distrito.

Tipos de actividades:

• Tutoría o asesoramiento presencial fuera del salón de clases.
• Asesor de club extraescolar o de almuerzo.
• Acompañante en una excursión de un día (contacto sin supervisión).
• Acompañante en una excursión con pernocta.

Requisitos:

• Todos los requisitos de los niveles 0 y 1.
• Autorización de huellas LiveScan del DOJ y el FBI (Formulario LiveScan de EUSD): puede tardar hasta 6 semanas.
• Capacitación para informantes obligatorios, aprox. 1 hora: el enlace se envía por correo desde la oficina del distrito en hasta 7 días.

Nivel 3 — Voluntario conductor

Conduce a estudiantes en su vehículo privado.

Tipos de actividades:

• Acompañante en una excursión que conduce a estudiantes.

Requisitos:

• Todos los requisitos de los niveles 0, 1 y 2.
• Entregue el formulario de excursión en vehículo privado de EUSD.
• Pida al enlace familiar de su escuela que le envíe el formulario electrónico.

Cada visita, cada nivel

Ingrese por la oficina principal y regístrese en Hall Pass (verificación de la Ley de Megan). El estatus de voluntario puede ser revocado en cualquier momento a discreción del director o de otro administrador designado.
